Ubuntu and its derivatives can be installed directly from the hard disk using Grub4Dos boot loader and iso emulation.This procedure is faster and does not require any secondary media such as CD or USB Flash Drives.

Recently my cousin bought a new laptop – Dell Inspiron 14r with Windows 7 Home Basic x64.I went to her house to install Ubuntu on her laptop.Unfortunately installing Ubuntu on a Dell Inspiron 14r was a big challenge.The grub2 menu and the wired/wireless drivers caused a lot of problems.It took almost 3 hours to install and get Ubuntu running smoothly.

Just like how you can boot a computer using a bootable CD,you can also boot a computer using a bootable USB drive.
You can test a bootable USB Drive within Windows without restarting your computer.This is helpful when your motherboard does not support booting from a USB Drive.

On Certain Computers running Ubuntu the sound volume is very low in spite of increasing the volume to the maximum.You can barely hear dialogues in movies and you cannot enjoy music on such computers.
This low volume problem can be easily fixed by increasing the volume from the terminal.
